Along the Skocjan Educational Trail

Last but not least, the path that can be taken within Škocjan Cave Park is the Skocjan Educational Trail. This one is opened every day, every hour and is absolutely free of charge.

The tour is circular and you can start the walk anywhere along it. The path is marked with signs, and there are explanatory sign-boards from which you can learn (in Slovene and English) about carst phenomena, relief forms, and hydrological characteristics, the diverse flora and fauna, and the rich cultural heritage of the area.

One of the most beautiful or – maybe better – impressive walks in Slovenia takes you around the two huge collapsed doline-chasms and through the tiny villages of Skocjan, Betajna and Matavun. In Škocjan there are also a few museum exhibitions worth visiting.
