Everyone knows Slovenia is small and some even know there are a bit more than 2 million inhabitants, which is hardly enough for any “real” city around the world. But have you ever thought about how many cars are in our lovely country? What about which ones?
Get ready for some statistics…
Who would have thought that by the end of last year there were a bit more than a million registered cars, 1,078,511 to be exact. The prevailing brand is Renault with almost a 19 % share. Second is Volkswagen with 13.49 % followed by Opel, Citroen, Peugeot, Ford, Fiat…
Did you know there is exactly one big car manufacturer in Slovenia? According to the above statistics, which one do you think it is?
Yup, it is French Renault! It plays quite an important role in Slovene economics or, as quoted on their web page, “Revoz is the only car manufacturer in Slovenia. The company is owned by the French Group Renault and it has held its position of the number one Slovenian exporter with approx. 8 percent market share for several years.” Revoz is based in Novo mesto, in south-east Slovenia, and is the only European plant manufacturing the new Twingo, Renault Clio II and since June 2010 the Renault Wind Coupé Roadster.
.
It’s no wonder that of all the cars in Slovenia, the one you will most likely see is the Clio. There are more than 75,000 registered Clios of all ages.
