Free and Natural Ice Skating

Ice skating is a hit every winter but even more so if conditions permit ice skating in a natural setting. The most popular ice skating destination in Ljubljana is in Koseze, one of Ljubljana’s neighbourhoods not far from the centre, on the (frozen) Koseze pond

What used to be a clay pit has more recently served mainly fishermen and hobby modellers who use the pond to play with their favourite toys, but in winter ice skaters take over this small artificial lake.

Since this is completely natural and informal, don’t expect to be able to rent ice skates or have any other facilities. Expect a lot of children ice skating and some hockey playing groups. If you are not so much into ice skating, this area offers a nice walk, either on the footpath that encircles the lake or on the nearby Path of Remembrance and Comradeship.
